Jamie Smith

Jamie Smith is a global communications expert with more than 25 years of experience advising U.S. presidents, Fortune 500 CEOs, and senior government officials through complex challenges and crises. She specializes in helping leaders simplify complexity, shape narratives, and advance their goals.

Jamie has served as Senior White House Spokesperson and Deputy White House Press Secretary under President Barack Obama, Communications Director for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Executive Vice President at Edelman, and Chief Communications Officer for The Linux Foundation. She also founded and led Smith and Partners, LLC, worked in more than 40 countries with Secretary Madeleine Albright, and was part of the White House team that communicated the death of Osama bin Laden.

As Managing Director at Rational, Jamie brings deep expertise in strategic communications, crisis management, and executive counsel. She has spoken at the World Economic Forum, the United Nations, and SXSW, and previously taught at The George Washington University. She is a graduate of Kenyon College and studied at the University of Edinburgh.
