Eileen specializes in internal and external communications strategy, issues and crisis management, B2B and B2C corporate communications, and strategic messaging and positioning. She co-founded and served as Managing Director and CEO of Markstein, a strategic communications firm with offices in Washington, D.C. and Birmingham, AL, from 2003 -2019. At Markstein, Eileen oversaw all aspects of the firm which served clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to national associations, with service offerings including public relations, public affairs, crisis communications, digital marketing, creative design, and media planning and buying. A select list of Markstein’s clients has included Encompass Health, Walmart, Verizon, Tenet Healthcare, Clayton Homes, Colonial Pipeline, the Air Line Pilots Association, Shipt, and Royal Cup Coffee and Tea.

Prior to Markstein, Eileen was an associate vice president at The ProMarc Agency, a boutique business and technology public relations firm, where she led the team that launched Vocus and managed brand strategy for the National Association of Convenience Stores, among others. Before joining ProMarc, Eileen was in Burson-Marsteller’s healthcare practice working on domestic and international campaigns for clients including Pharmacia & Upjohn and Eli Lilly and Company.

Eileen currently serves on the Highlands School Foundation’s Board of Trustees, where she is a member of the Executive Committee. Previously, she served on the Alabama Ballet Board of Trustees, Oasis Counseling for Women & Children’s Advisory Board and Children’s Hospital of Alabama’s 2008 Committee for the Future. She was named a 2013 Top 40 Under 40, was a Women’s Fund 2014 Smart Honoree, 2017 CEO of the Year award finalist, and 2018 Woman to Watch.

Eileen earned her B.A. from James Madison University, her MBA from The George Washington University and an Executive Certificate in Business Analytics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
